Mosaddek, Liton Star in Bangladesh Level T20Is
Mosaddek Hossain's first five-wicket catch and Liton Das's half-century brought Bangladesh to a seven-round victory against Zimbabwe in Sunday's second Twenty20 International at the grounds of Harare Sports Club.
With this win, Bangladesh ended the three-game streak 1-1.
Mosaddek became the fourth Bangladeshi, after Elias Sunny, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, to win a Fife wicket in a T20I, limiting Zimbabwe 5-20 in 20 overs to 135-8.
Zimbabwe owe a respectable result to Sikander Raza as his innings of 62 balls from 53 helped them to a respectable draw after losing half their team in seven overs.
In response, Liton's 56-ball 33 went perfectly for Bangladesh and after his dismissal, Afif Hossain and Najmul Hossain Shanto took care of the rest, going unbeaten on 30/28 and 19/21 to put them 136-3 in 17.3 overs.
Bangladesh suffered after losing the first 17-run T20I and needed a win to stay alive in the three-game series.
The visitors dominated the competition from the start. Mosaddek opened the bowl and struck on the very first ball of the inning as Regis Chakabva took a loose delivery from the side wheel straight into the hands of wicketkeeper and skipper Nurul Hasan.
Wesley Madhevere, who had gone 67 unbeaten in the first T20I, then threw his wicket in the same over, giving Mahedi Hasan an easy cover-to-cover catch.
Mosaddek reduced Zimbabwe to 6-3 in three innings by catching Craig Ervine on a slide. Sean Williams was Mosaddek's next victim, this time the bowler initiating and completing the catch.
Mosaddek completed his five with Hasan Mahmud prevailing and beating Milton Shumba for three.
The partnership finally ended on the 18th when Hasan Mahmud shook Burli's stumps and fired him for 32 balls from 31 balls.
Raza, after hitting 62/52, went next as Munim Shahriar was caught by Mustafizur Rahman.
Luke Jongwe (11 of five) hit a six to take 11 points in the final as the score surpassed the 130 mark.
Bangladesh's response caused anger early on as flyweight Munim Shahriar again failed to justify his selection when Richard Ngarava threw him at eight.
But Liton was unfazed by what happened at the other end as he continued to score against the Zimbabwean bowlers.
Liton finished fifty over eights in his sixth T20I. Liton was rated lbw in the very next match against Sean Williams, a decision the right-hander barely accepted.
Bangladesh were confused as Anamul followed Haque Liton into the dressing room after playing 16 from 15 to go 81-3 in 9.3 overs.
Afif and Shanto dispelled any doubts with a 55-run unbeaten partnership that saw Bangladesh hit the bull's eye with 15 balls.
The fate of the series will be decided in the third and final game, which will be played at the same venue on August 2nd.
