Benzema and Asensio scored in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Juventus in a friendly
Karim Benzema converted an early penalty and Marco Asensio added an insurance goal in the second half as Real Madrid beat Juventus 2-0 in a pre-season friendly at the Rose Bowl in California on Saturday.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti looks ahead to the clash between Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Super Cup in 10 days. He started the same line-up that beat Liverpool in the Champions League final in May.
They achieved Real Madrid's first win of their US tour, a 1-0 loss to LaLiga rivals Barcelona in Las Vegas and a 2-2 draw with Mexico's Club America in San Francisco.
Spectators continued to pour into the stands as France star Benzema was denied a goal after just eight seconds when Uruguay's Federico Valverde was ruled offside with a through ball.
Juventus had their best chance in the 13th minute, but Leonardo Bonucci's direct free-kick hit the bar.
Benzema opened the scoring on penalties in the 19th minute, firing squarely into the bottom left corner after Juventus' Danilo carelessly brought down Brazilian Vinicius Junior in the box.
Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin fended off Real Madrid who were pushing hard to end the game after the break. He blocked Daniel Carvajal's angle shot before deflecting a left-footed shot from Benzema's long shot in the 62nd minute.
Benzema was among the starters two minutes later as Ancelotti made nine substitutions.
He received ecstatic cheers from 93,702 spectators at the Rose Bowl, the scenic stadium at the foot of the mountains northeast of Los Angeles where the 1994 World Cup final was played.
Asensio was among the substitutes and made a quick impact as he left-footed Jesus Vallejo's cross into the net.
It was enough to seal the win in a game that saw Juventus barely put Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to the test.
